This beautiful Lanzarote wedding at Terraza Marea in Playa Blanca was a wonderful reminder that your wedding day can be completely personal, relaxed and designed around what matters most to you.
For couples planning a destination wedding in Lanzarote, this celebration is a perfect example of how you can create a wedding day that feels unique to you, rather than following a traditional wedding timetable.
This lovely couple chose Terraza Marea as the setting for their 1pm wedding ceremony, creating a beautiful start to their celebrations. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés accompanied by live music, with the couple choosing a talented saxophonist to provide their entertainment.
It created exactly the atmosphere they wanted – relaxed, elegant and full of celebration.
But rather than following the traditional pattern of moving straight from the ceremony into an evening reception, they decided to do things differently.
At around 5pm, everyone headed off for an hour or two to shower, relax, have a nap and reset before coming back together for the evening.
And the destination for dinner made the day even more special.
They chose their favourite local restaurant – the very place where their proposal had taken place – giving another personal connection to their celebrations and making the evening feel even more meaningful.
There really are no rules
This wedding is such a lovely example of why I believe there shouldn't be a set formula for your wedding day.
You don't have to spend every minute together from morning until midnight.
You don't have to follow a traditional timeline, and you certainly don't have to choose entertainment simply because it's what everyone else does.
You can have a ceremony at lunchtime, enjoy cocktails and live music, disappear for a couple of hours to recharge, and then come back together for dinner somewhere that already holds a special place in your story.
Your wedding should be about you.
It should reflect your personalities, your relationship and the kind of experience you want to create for yourselves and your guests.
